The freedom of speech is the ability to criticize. Without criticism nothing would improve and incomplete or moronic ideas wouldn't be stopped or improved. An example of a moronic idea that went through was 'The Great Leap Forward.' The Great Leap Forward was an act in China in 1958, enforced by Mao Zedong. It was a plan to have the people do less farming and more blacksmithing. Without the freedom of speech this plan was not stopped and it was put into motion. No one could criticize it and because of this about 20 million people died. Another part to this is that everyone used home furnaces to blacksmith creating terrible metal that was unusable. That is way freedom of speech is is so important, it ia the ability to criticize.
If there was no freedom of speech more ideas like this would be made and the flaws wouldn't be shown. This could lead to more deaths.
This should not have happened because this goes against the bakers freedom of speech. The baker should have the right to refuse as you do to everything. Also, not only was that against their freedom of speech, it went against their freedom of religion. Which is stated in the US Bill of Rights. The same sex couple could have also went to another baker but decided to create a lawsuit against the baker. In the end, this goes against two parts of the US Bill of Rights. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" and it also goes against, "Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech."
The US Bill of Rights.
Freedom of speech is a right that should not be limited in anyways. It is a universal right and should be given all over the world. It is stated in the bill of rights that there should be freedom of speech so that the people be able to express their opinions freely.
